An overview of wood chip storage solutions
Our systems for larger storage rooms are designed for higher-output heating systems. The conveyor system for your chosen fuel, whether wood chips or pellets, is tailored to the space available. Whether the storage room is beside, above, below or further away from the boiler room, or even outside the building, KWB can provide a suitable wood chip storage solution. KWB agitators are available in diameters from 2.50 to 5.50 metres, helping you make the best possible use of the available space.
Storage room with a sloping floor beside the boiler room
The KWB agitator with conveyor screw is ideal for storage rooms directly adjoining the boiler room. The fuel is stored on the sloping floor and transported straight to the boiler through the conveyor channel.
Storage room away from the boiler room
Fuel can also be transferred reliably when the storage room is further away from the boiler room. The agitator and conveyor screw move the wood chips horizontally from the store before an inclined screw carries them directly to the boiler. As each conveyor screw is made to suit the individual installation, lengths of up to 11 metres are possible.
Storage room above the boiler room
The storage room can also be located above the boiler room, for example on the first floor of the building. An agitator feeds the wood chips or pellets into a drop pipe, which carries the fuel down to the boiler. The pipe length is adapted to the installation.
Storage room below the boiler room
Where the storage room is below the boiler room, for example in the basement, an inclined screw transports the wood chips or pellets up to the boiler. Its length is tailored to the site requirements.
One storage room for several boilers
Where several boilers are operated in cascade, they can all draw fuel from the same storage room. This is made possible by an agitator with a twin suction head. As the system uses suction conveying, however, it is suitable for pellets only.
Wood chip bunker filling systems
Whether your storage room is sunk into the ground, located in the basement or on the first floor, KWB bunker filling systems offer a high degree of flexibility. Both vertical and horizontal versions can be planned to suit the installation.
Wood chips are tipped into the filling trough and transported by screw conveyor to the required height. They are then distributed throughout the storage room with minimal dust, helping achieve an even spread of fuel.
Vertical version: upward conveying
Vertical version: downward conveying
