Intelligent control technology
Settings can be adjusted directly at the boiler using either an intuitive rotary dial or a colour touchscreen. The rotary dial is particularly practical when wearing work gloves, for example while adding logs. Alternatively, the heating system can be operated from a remote control unit inside the living area.
As well as adjusting temperatures, you can view useful information such as the amount of fuel remaining in the pellet store, the fill level of the log wood boiler or when the wood chip heating system is next due for maintenance.
For even greater convenience, the heating system can be connected to KWB ComfortOnline and controlled or monitored remotely from a computer, tablet or smartphone. Temporary access can also be granted to your heating engineer, installer or KWB Customer Service for remote diagnostics.

KWB Comfort 4
Simple, flexible control
At the boiler or online
KWB Comfort 4 controls your entire heating system. The operating unit is built into the front of the boiler, and all components are manufactured to industrial standards for exceptional durability. The boiler can be operated using either the colour touchscreen or the rotary dial. The dial is especially useful when wearing work gloves, for example while adding logs.
The clearly structured menu makes it easy to configure the boiler, heating circuits, domestic hot water cylinders and buffer storage tanks. KWB Comfort 4 automatically and continuously adjusts the boiler output to match the current heat demand, from standby through to full load. This ensures that the right amount of heat is always available.
The control system maintains optimum combustion conditions while keeping emissions low and operation economical. It also provides practical guidance, such as how much wood to add for efficient operation, how much fuel remains in the pellet store and when the ash container needs to be emptied.
Modular and expandable
The modular KWB Comfort 4 system can control up to 28 heating circuits, 14 buffer storage tanks and 14 domestic hot water cylinders. In a cascade system, it can manage up to eight boilers. Remote control units can also be installed within the living area.
KWB ComfortOnline
KWB Comfort 4 is ready for connection to KWB ComfortOnline, allowing the boiler to be controlled remotely from a smartphone, tablet or computer and enabling remote diagnostics.
KWB ComfortSolar
KWB ComfortSolar controls the solar thermal system to ensure that free solar energy is transferred to the storage tank as effectively as possible. Alongside its functionality and design, the controller offers clear, intuitive operation. A guided commissioning assistant is available for heating engineers.
KWB Comfort 3
Simple and convenient control
KWB Comfort 3 controls the heating system and is compatible with the KWB Easyfire 1 pellet heating system and the KWB Powerfire 1 wood chip heating system. The operating unit is built into the front of the boiler and features two buttons, a rotary dial and a large, clearly arranged graphic display.
The logical menu structure makes it easy to configure the boiler, heating circuits, domestic hot water cylinders and buffer storage tanks. KWB Comfort 3 automatically and continuously adjusts the boiler output to match the current heat demand, from standby through to full load. The control concept ensures optimum combustion conditions, low emissions and economical operation.
Comprehensive digital and analogue control
In addition to controlling combustion, KWB Comfort 3 provides extensive heat management for applications ranging from single-family homes to microgrids. Its modular design allows it to control up to 32 heating circuits, 16 buffer storage tanks and 16 domestic hot water cylinders.
Several digital or analogue remote control units can also be connected. KWB Comfort SMS and KWB Comfort InterCom are available as additional options, and the system can also be connected to KWB ComfortOnline.

Use your mobile phone to check the current operating status of your heating system and control functions such as the holiday programme or party mode.
KWB Comfort InterCom
KWB Comfort InterCom is a Modbus interface for exchanging data between KWB Comfort 3 and higher-level third-party control systems, such as building management systems. A wide range of boiler operating parameters and individual alarms can be read from KWB Comfort 3. Selected settings can also be changed through the external control system.

KWB ComfortOnline
Your heating system, wherever you are
KWB ComfortOnline gives you remote access to your KWB heating system, allowing you to monitor and control it and carry out remote diagnostics. The browser-based platform can be used on any internet-enabled smartphone, tablet, laptop or computer, with no app installation required. Your heating system can be viewed and controlled from anywhere in the world.
Control and monitor your heating system from anywhere
KWB ComfortOnline lets you operate your boiler wherever you are. For example, you can switch it on while travelling home from a holiday so that the house is warm by the time you arrive.
You can also check the operating status of your heating system while away from home. Detailed information about the boiler, buffer storage tank and domestic hot water cylinder is available around the clock. The following settings can be changed online at any time:
- Switch the heating system on or off
- Change heating times
- Change heating programmes, such as automatic, comfort, frost protection or party mode
- Receive alarms and warnings, such as the ash container or pellet store fill level
Remote servicing from your phone
KWB ComfortOnline also improves operational reliability. You receive an SMS or email whenever the status of the heating system changes. Minor faults can often be resolved remotely without delay.
You can also grant access to a third party, such as your heating engineer or KWB Customer Service, so they can inspect the system remotely. As the owner, you retain control over your data at all times. Communication between the boiler and KWB ComfortOnline is protected using security technologies familiar from online banking, including CAPTCHA, TAN authentication and SSL encryption.
Analysing and optimising groups of systems
Professional users such as energy contractors, heating engineers and housing providers can use KWB ComfortOnline to visualise, analyse and manage groups of heating systems. Optional function and data packages available through the platform’s online shop support long-term analysis, detailed evaluations and system comparisons.
Technical requirements
To use KWB ComfortOnline, you simply need to register at www.comfort-online.com and connect the heating system to the internet using a LAN cable. The platform is compatible with heating systems equipped with either KWB Comfort 3 or KWB Comfort 4.
Retrofitting existing systems
Existing systems with KWB Comfort 4 require a software update to the boiler operating unit. Systems with KWB Comfort 3 also require a suitable network card. Systems supplied before 2008 additionally need a new boiler operating unit.
Whether you use a smartphone, tablet, laptop or computer, KWB ComfortOnline automatically recognises the browser-enabled device and adapts the user interface accordingly. Different display layouts can also be selected. Almost all KWB pellet, wood chip and log wood heating systems manufactured from 2008 onwards can be retrofitted with KWB ComfortOnline.
